What happened to December

Wow! I just realized that I missed a whole month of December on my blog. It was busy, but I will try not to let that happen again in the new year. I hope everyone had a great Christmas. My husband and I were sick with a cold over Christmas, but we still managed to enjoy the season. Santa was very good to us. Santa even started a new collection for me. These are called vase heads. The heads are hollow to allow you to put flowers in them. I love them.
Lots of quilt stuff as well. Its going to be so much fun working on all these quilts this year.

A couple new hangers for some small quilts. So cute.

My girls know Mom loves her quilting. Thanks girls.

More fabric. Can't wait to come up with quilts with these.

I love these quilt kits. I always have a hard time choosing fabric and always bring my husband along, as he is very good with color. He picked these out and he did a super job. Thanks honey.
I don't know about you girls, but I love magazines and pattern books. Sometimes its just a chance to dream, or wonder how they are able to put the perfect fabric together for their quilts or actually make some of the patterns.
My step daughter and her husband gave us this beautiful book for Christmas. We absolutely love it. It is filled with pictures of their family. She did it on line and then they shipped the hardcover book to her. It's amazing what you can do on the computer. She did a fantastic job and we love looking through the book. Which we have done quite a few times already. Thanks Melanie and Bill.
Well as you can see Santa knows me well. I hope you all have a wonderfull and healthy New Year. See you next year.

One More Thing Tonight

My husband was reading my blog tonight. He loves his 1969 Plymouth Fury. Right now it is covered up and put to sleep for the winter. It doesn't even go out in the rain. He wasn't happy with the little picture of his car. He wanted it BIGGER. So here honey, just for you.

My New Design Wall Is Up

It turned out great! My darling husband mounted it to the wall with screws and washers. Well that just wouldn't do. I couldn't have those screws showing so I glued large wooden buttons over the screw heads. Now it looks great. I wasn't sure how big of a design wall I needed, but hubby says you may as well go all the way. That's why I love him. It measures 8 feet by 4 feet.

I also have been busy making little stockings and mitts for the Christmas Tree. We have six grandchildren and so I thought to make them more personal, I would embroider their names on them. And of course put a little surprise in them. I just finished them last night. Here is a picture of three of them. I think they turned out quite well.

Here are a couple of quilts I haven't shown yet. Have a great weekend.

My New Design Wall

This in going to be my new design wall for my quilting room. It measures 4 feet by 8 feet. It doesn't look like much now but I know its going to be so handy. It took some time to figure out where to hang it. There is lots of room in our rec room, but I really need it where I do my quilting. I will post a picture of it after it is hung, but for now I need to get my costume ready for halloween tomorrow. Have a great day.

Well I finished Maria's stocking.I did it in cross stitch and it will probably be the last one I do. My poor eyes had a difficult time with it. Hope she likes it.

Our computer was eight years old and things like the cd drive would not work so I mentioned this to my darling husband. Well next thing you know, we came home with a new one. He is so good to me. We did have windows XP but know we have Vista. So here goes the learning curve.
Should be fun. Have a great weekend.

Our Thanksgiving Weekend

We started our weekend by having dinner at our daughter Steph's home. What a great time we had. Steph prepared a great meal and it was yummo. We had lots of fun with the kids. Her husband, Bob was feeling a bit under the weather and I hope he is feeling better.

We are so thankful for our family. We miss the rest of the family but Christmas is coming and we can't wait to have them altogether. That reminds me, I still have shopping to do.

I did get some quilting done this weekend. I finished a Christmas stocking for my daughter Maria. I will post a picture on my next post. It also felt good to finish another Christmas runner. The applique is all cut out and now its just a case of machine appliquing it down. Here is a picture of one I made for my husbands brother Art and his wife Phylis.

I will leave you with one last picture. This is the evening sky at the end of the weekend. Like little polka dots. Our world is amazing!

On our holidays we went to visit my husbands brother and his wife, in Picton. What a beautiful area. We had such a nice time visiting and reconnecting that I miss them already. They took such good care of us and made us feel right at home.

Well, I'm back. We have been so busy with the move and getting our new home in order, that I haven't had time. My sewing machine is at summer camp (sewing machine hospital) right now and I can't wait till she gets home. So for now I will just enjoy our gardens.

A Christmas Quilt Kit From Santa

January 23, 2008

This is a kit Santa brought me this past Christmas. It is not a big one, so I thought I would begin the new year with it. My other quilt you can see in my quilt room, the applique vase and flowers, is waiting for the right backing for now. This is my day off, so I'm spending it indoors with my husband.

Day One Of My Blog

January 21, 2008

Let me start by saying I Love Quilting. I've been reading quilting blogs for some time now and have received a lot of inspiration and new ideas from them. So today I decided to start one myself and maybe someone will get enjoyment out of my blog.
I am married to a wonderful man, Peter (who really does share my love for quilts) and we recently moved to a small town in Ontario, Canada along Lake Huron. We have 5 children and 6 grandchildren.
I thought I would start by showing a couple pictures of the Quilting Room. Peter was a huge help in setting it up and I am enjoying it when ever I can.
